{"id":4257,"date":"2023-01-27T06:49:32","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T06:49:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/festive-williamson.87-106-228-42.plesk.page\/?p=4257"},"modified":"2023-10-22T23:14:24","modified_gmt":"2023-10-22T23:14:24","slug":"tannin-production-from-local-aleppo-pine-bark-by-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/festive-williamson.87-106-228-42.plesk.page\/en\/tannin-production-from-local-aleppo-pine-bark-by-products\/","title":{"rendered":"Tannin production from local Aleppo pine bark by-products"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 112px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 41px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"font-size: 25px;\">TANFORLOC is the name of the new project that we started with the <a href=\"https:\/\/ctfc.cat\/\">Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia<\/a> (CTFC), <a href=\"https:\/\/leatherquimica.com\/\">Leather Qu\u00edmica<\/a> (a company dedicated to the production, marketing and supply of high-quality chemical products for the tanning industry) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.combalia.es\/\">Combalia<\/a> (a company specialised in the fertilisation of vegetable leather, dedicated to the production of high quality natural leathers).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 41px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"font-size: 25px;\"><strong>The main objective of this research and development (R&amp;D) project is to obtain tannins and other aromatic compounds from Aleppo pine bark from Catalan forests with the capacity to be used in leather dressing.<\/strong> This will make it possible to use locally sourced resources to replace the current source of tannins from mimosa and quebracho of non-local origin (South America and South Africa) in leather tanning.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 41px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"font-size: 25px;\">To achieve this objective, different tannin extraction methods will be developed. Subsequently, the properties of the compounds obtained on a small scale will be evaluated and compared with commercial tannins. Once the best methodology for obtaining these products has been chosen and tested in the process of marinating skins, a scale-up test of this process will be carried out in a pre-industrial-sized reactor and its viability will be evaluated. Finally, <strong>our circular metrics team will evaluate the mitigation of the impact of climate change of the substitution of non-local raw materials to those proposed by this project<\/strong> (local bark and new methods of tannin extraction).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 41px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"font-size: 25px;\">This study aims to contribute not only to <strong>climate change mitigation<\/strong>, but also to <strong>promote the use of local raw materials<\/strong>, such as Aleppo pine bark, <strong>to obtain bioproducts within the framework of the circular bioeconomy<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 41px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"font-size: 25px;\">This project is part of the 2022 call of the &#8220;Climate Change R&amp;D Nucls&#8221; programme of the Agency for Business Competitiveness (ACCI\u00d3) of the Government of Catalonia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 41px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 41px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The main objective of this research project is to obtain tannins and other aromatic compounds from Aleppo pine bark from Catalan forests<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":6809,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[20],"tags":[53],"class_list":["post-4257","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-ecodiseno","tag-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.6 -
